June 2022 Card Kit and News!

A bit of news! I will be attending the Etsy Spring market in Saskatoon this Sunday June 5th. I've never done an outdoor Etsy market before and I am excited that I will have a 10x10 booth this time. Usually we only have a 4x6 space. I've been planning my booth in the garage (it's the only space I could set up out of the crazy prairie wind) and am super excited to see how it will all look with everything in it. You can find more info about the sale here. This is the Facebook page here where you can find out about the vendors and what they will be selling. I will have card kits, paintings, quilts, journals, mini albums and much more. Hope to see you there!

July Card Kit and New From My Shop

I have a few things to share with you today.

The first thing I want to share is something new! I love painting and if you've been following my social media you'll see some of the painting projects I've done. Some of my artwork I've scanned and done some die cutting around the edges. I used these for the Mother's Day card kits. From there I decided to offer these die cuts to my shop separately so anyone can purchase them. I want to do more of these sets in the future.

Here are some of the items I've created with them

Next we have the July card kit.

Using My Stuff 2017 Challenge

2016 was a reflection of how many supplies I have collected over the years and how many projects I actually finish using my supplies. The amount of supplies I have accumulated far outweighs the finished project amounts. This year I am going to try and turn that around and I'm taking you with me.

It's fun to buy the latest and greatest and then I take it to my crafting area and remember all the other "projects" I have waiting for me to get to. Guilt floods my mind. The joy of what I just bought kind of diminishes and I stuff my newly purchased items in a corner until I finish the projects I have already started, or so I tell myself.

Years later I have a room full of stuff, long forgetting what I had intended to use it for.  I need to stop this cycle of buying and not using, so this year I decided to challenge myself to use my stuff. I still love a lot of it and want to use it. I just can't part with it yet. So the option is if I can't part with it I must use it!

I will be challenging myself to finish quilting, scrapbooking and art projects with my stash so if you do any of these things or any other crafty things you are welcome to join me. Follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and here on my blog as I will be posting on all platforms my progress, struggles (I'm sure there will be plenty) and finished projects. If you want to show me what you are working on tag me by using #jensuseyourstuffchallenge or @jenungerfinearts, Jen Unger Fine Arts on Facebook.

Welcome 2014!

It's hard to believe how fast time flies! I'm looking back at 2013 and everything I had hoped to accomplish. Ya, what was I thinking :P Oh well.....

The best thing I love about the start of a new years is having the chance to start over, regroup, think of a new plan. And I'm happy to say I have no plan! I am winging it this year and we'll see where it takes me :)

Things I know for sure are:

- I will continue working on my 2013 Project Life Album
- I will start a 2014 Project Life/Regular album
- I will keep quilting, scrapbooking and creating overall
- I will keep putting things in my Etsy store
- I will make some videos and tutorials

So here's to seeing what the New Year brings! Have a joyful day everyone!

New Albums and A Tutorial In My Etsy Store

For the last month and a half I have been working on some mini albums and as I was making them I thought I would try and make a tutorial in PDF form to sell in my Etsy store as well. I'm really happy how it turned out.

These are the albums for sale

Butterfly Mini Album

Blossoms Mini Album

Blue Rose Mini Album

This is the tutorial that's for sale as well. You can make all kinds variations of these albums (as seen above and the video below) using this tutorial by changing the paper, embellishments, using dies and punches to get different looks. The tutorial is $7.00 CAD and will be emailed to you after purchase.

Watch the video below to see more :)

New Year, New Goals

I hope every one had a happy New Year, I'm excited because we get to start another new year with fresh ideas and goals. One of my goals is to blog more often (I'm sure many of you bloggers feel the same). I want to make my blog more interesting with more varied content, more crafting ideas, tips and tutorials. So having said that Mondays are always a day for me to get back on track, reorganize, put things back in order after the weekend and I've decided that Monday is going to be a day where I share the way I organize my stuff and hopefully it will helpful to someone out there. Tuesday's are a day I try to set aside for card making so I aim to make a card to show you. Wednesday, well I'm not sure but today I want to show you the project I've finished yesterday. Thursdays I work a full 8 hour day at my local scrapbook/quilting store so trying to get a project done when I'm tired is pretty hard, instead I will show you some of my favorite products that  I've purchased over time. Friday is my scrapbook day so I'll show you my latest project. And Saturday, because I want my Etsy store to do well I will have to do a little advertising, I'm not fond of advertising but it's one of those things that needs to be done. Maybe you'll find it interesting :) I can't promise that every day will have a post but my hope is to at least post more often and that by giving my blog a little more structured format I can plan my projects a little better.

This is a really quick easy project if you need to give a gift on short notice. To make these I measured a regular sticky note pad 3"x 3" and cut 2 pieces of chipboard 3 1/4"x 3 1/4" and 1 piece 1/2"x 3 1/4" to make the cover. I then took a piece of pattern paper 4 1/4"x 8 1/4", glued the chipboard pieces down on the wrong side of the paper in this order- big, small, big, leaving a 1/2" border around the outside and 1/8" in between each piece of chipboard. Trim corners, wrap and adhere edges to chipboard. glue a ribbon across the center (long way) leaving about 8" over on each end to make the tie. Glue a 3"x 7" piece of matching pattern paper to the inside cover hiding the ribbon finishing the cover. Gently fold the cover into a book. Glue down a sticky note pad to the right side of the cover. Tie closed and add a matching pen. Decorate the cover.
